This Jedi Costume makes a fine costume. For role play, practising your combat moves or brandishing a lightsaber, this costume gives great freedom of movement. Simply add a pair of comfortable, high boots, grab your lightsaber and you are ready to face the empire.
What does this Jedi Costume include?
This Full Jedi Costume consists of an inner tunic, belt, leather belt, 2 tabards, a pair of Jedi pants and a robe. The hooded cloak adds a new dimension to your costume. Somewhere between a religious figure and a warrior, the cloak adds a sense of detachment from the superfluous trappings of the world. For full on empowerment as you feel the force coarse through your veins, add the cloak and become the Jedi you always knew you were!
Samurai inspired
The clothes of a Jedi are not simply designed for elegance. It is essential that a Jedi is always ready for combat. These clothes provide freedom of movement when in close combat and when wielding a lightsaber. The shoulder pieces that are worn immitate the Kataginu, which are the Japanese broad, wing-like shoulders worn by Samurai.
How do I put on a Jedi Costume?
If you have only recently received your Jedi status, you might need a little direction in how to don your costume. Here is a simple guide that should have you dressed and ready for action in no time.
- Put on a tshirt to ensure warmth and comfort.
- Pull on your costume pants and a nice pair of Jedi boots.
- Slip on the tunic, leave it loose. Tuck in the contrasting “inner shirt” lapels.
- Place the shoulder pieces over each shoulder so they hang down equally at the back and the front.
- Cross over your tunic and place the sash around your waist, which keeps the shoulder pieces in place, back and front.
- If you think the top of the shoulder pieces will slip, use some safety pins to keep in place. (If you have time and can sew, velcro works even better.)
- Now place your utility belt around your waist.
- If you have a light sabre, now is the time to add it to your belt
- Add your cloak for the finishing touch.
- Lord Jedi you are now ready. May the force be with you.
(This next part is tricky so get some help to keep everything in place if you can)
(These shoulder pieces sit above the tunic and below the sash. These pieces immitate the Kataginu described above. Make sure they stick out slightly over your shoulders and come in towards your waist.)
Jedi Costume Verdict
This is an excellent choice for a Jedi Costume. The costume works well whether you choose the tunic set or the full set that includes the cloak. To complete your Jedi Costume, simply add some boots and a lightsaber. The addition of a lightsaber is an optional extra. However, with such a fine costume, a simple, closed lightsaber is enough to add a finishing flourish to your costume and can be bought quite cheaply. Most plain, high boots, ideally without buckles, would work just fine with this costume. If you do not have suitable boots or a lightsaber, we have added some links below.
Jedi Boots
These Jedi boots are a great replica of those worn by Anakin Skywalker. They have a strong sturdy sole which should provide cushioning and comfort. The zip on the back of the leg makes them easy to slip on and off after a hard day’s combat. The horizontal straps make a nice embellishment to the boots and identify them as the style worn by Anakin Skywalker. You will be pleased to know that these quality, well made boots come in a range of sizes to suit all Jedi knights.
Jedi Boots Verdict
Jedi Knights need a pair of boots that are comfortable and give good grounding when engaging in combat. These boots are an excellent match for those worn by the ultimate good guy turned bad guy, Anakin Skywalker. As such, they will look great with any Jedi Costume. They are well made from PU leather with firm soles and helpful zips. These boots are great value for money and will provide a great addition to your Jedi Costume.
