Ho-ho-ho Shirt

This shirt is a replica of that worn by “Tony”, one of the bad guys, during the Die Hard movie. Of course when we first see Tony his shirt is plain grey, no writing, no blood, just gray. The plain version very much reflected Tony’s attitude to life: serious, functional, pretty boring really. With a flourish of the red pen (or is it blood?) John raises Tony’s dress style from gormless to grafiti genius.

Die Hard wit

Now it’s your chance to share in one of the most iconic moments in the movie. Benefit and enjoy the sharp wit that we have come to expect from John McClane by having your own Die Hard Tony shirt. It would make a great choice as part of a Die Hard Tony costume, Halloween outfit, Christmas ugly sweater day at the office, Christmas gathering, or simply hanging out in a cool shirt. As part of a costume or just on its own, any Die Hard fan would love to own one of these shirts. It would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for the Die Hard fan in your life.

Don’t really like dressing up?

For those who can be a little shy about donning outrageous costumes at Halloween, particularly the sort that require complicated makeup or prosthetics, this shirt is an ideal choice. It is comfortable, affordable, and the well known quote is sure to get you noticed for all the right reasons. Furthermore, it is quick to put on and quick to change out of. Although we think that last part will not be a problem as this is likely to become your new favorite shirt.

Description

Made from 10% polyester and 90% cotton, this grey shirt has retro style writing in traditional, blood red. With long sleeves and a round neck, it comes in a range of men’s sizes from Small to XXX Large.

Until Tony meets John McClane, we see him sporting a pair of large, gold rimmed spectacles. Once a fight breaks out between the two, Tony’s glasses are sent flying. By the time McClane places a santa hat upon Tony’s head and wheels him into the lift, Tony’s spectables are lost. Whilst they are not an essential part of Tony’s costume, they add a great touch of authenticity to your ensemble and resemble closely those spectacles worn by Tony.

Sweat Pants

Not every one in Hans Gruber’s hit squad came dressed for the gym. Hans had his suit, Theo was very smart casual, yet both Tony and his brother Karl, came dressed for action. It was just as well that Tony came in pants that were well designed for training, given the work out he had fighting off John McClane. A fall down a steep set of stairs left his jogger trousers intact and still looking smart. It’s a pity we could not say the same about Tony.

We have selected these sweat pants to match with your Die Hard Tony costume as they are a close replica of those worn by Tony the bad guy in the Die Hard movie. These sweat pants are well made, confortable and pair well with the “Ho-Ho-Ho” shirt above.

Description

Made from a 65% cotton and 35% polyester blend, these sweat pants have an elasticated waist band with a draw string for adjustment and the ankles are drawn in with a cuff. The fabric is soft, hardwearing and comfortable. Two side pockets and one back pocket provide a useful place to stash all Tony’s necessary accessories, such as his fake ID and Zippo lighter.

Machine Gun

When Tony stepped off the elevator on the 32nd floor of the Nakatomi building, his intention was clear: to eliminate the interloper who had alerted the authorities by setting off the fire alarm. Tony had a sub-machine gun where as John McClane just had his service pistol. The odds were not good. Fortunately, John McClane always rises to a challenge. It wasn’t long before Tony’s lifeless body was slumped in a lift while John became the owner of his shiny new machine gun.

Now you have a machine gun. Ho-Ho-Ho

When putting together a Die Hard Tony costume it is a great idea to add a prop machine gun. This particular one make s the sound of gunfire when the trigger is depressed. The USA version also has flashing lights. This makes a great prop to go with your costume. It’s a good size, it looks the part and you are going to have a lot of fun portraying this character.

Description

This black toy machine gun is made from plastic. Squeeze the trigger and the gun will make exciting shooting sounds. The USA gun is 30 inches approximately in Length while the UK gun measures 55cm. Either of these two machine guns would make a great prop as part of a costume.

Tony Vreski

Tony Vreski is a character brought to life by Andreas Wisniewski, in the 1988 iconic movie, Die Hard.

He and his brother Karl Vreski are part of an elite gang of robbers who plan to steal 640 million dollars from the Nakatomi Corporation, fake their own deaths and then escape. Their plan is precise and its execution is professionally carried out. The one aspect they could not have anticipated is the arrival of an off duty New York police officer, John McClane.

John calls the cops

While the bad guys storm the party taking hostages, cutting communication lines and blocking lifts and escalators between floors, officer McClane escapes to an upper floor via a stairwell. Anxious to signal for help, he activates the sprinkler system which he knows will alert the fire services. The leader of the group, Hans Gruber, easily thwarts John’s rescue attempt by resetting the alarm and dispatching the fire services. Now John has revealed his presence and location, Gruber sends Tony Vreski up to the 32nd floor to deal with the interloper.

Hunter Killer

When Tony arrives on the top floor he is not expecting to find a capable New York cop. The assumption is that the unwelcome guest is a hapless security guard who is out of his depth against these ruthless killers. Even when McClane presses a gun to Tony’s face and orders him to surrender, Tony is not intimidated. He mocks him, saying “You won’t hurt me…because you are a policeman…there are rules for policemen”. A fight ensues, culminating in the pair falling down a flight of stairs. Tony lands awkwardly, breaking his neck on impact.

Send them a message

What happens next provides an iconic scene in the film. John places Tony’s body on a swivel chair inside the only working lift. Intent on sending a “message” to the bad guys, he puts a santa hat on Tony’s head and writes the words “Now I have a machine gun. Ho-Ho-Ho, on Tony’s sweater. He sends the lift down to the floor where the perpetrators are gathered, stealthily hiding on top of the lift so he can observe his adversaries.

Now I have a machine gun. Ho-Ho-Ho

This is a pivotal moment in the movie with consequences that shape the rest of the film. Firstly it marks John McClane’s first kill, sending a clear message to the other 12 bad guys that they are vulnerable and have resistance. The sinister, mocking placement of Tony’s body indicates to Hans Gruber that this interloper is far more resourceful and dangerous than any off duty security guard. Lastly, when news of Tony’s demise reaches his brother, Karl, played by former Bolshoi ballet principal dancer, Alexander Gudonov, Karl embarks on a personal vendetta to capture and kill John McClane.

Die Hard Tony Costume

Now you have an opportunity to share in an iconic moment in a classic movie. Such a memorable character as Tony from such a well loved movie as Die Hard is sure to get you noticed for all the right reasons. The joy of this costume does not end there.

Incredibly easy to put together, this Die Hard Tony costume also costs very little. The shirt and the santa hat alone are sufficient for you to pull of this character. However, adding the machine gun, authentic hair and spectacles provide the finishing touches. With these simple additions you will be surprised how much you look like the real Tony and will be sure to get a great reaction. We suggest you learn a few of Tony’s lines for added entertainment. For an optional extra, you could also add some stage blood around Tony’s face.

The costume that keeps on giving

Once you have your own “Ho-Ho-Ho” shirt you are going to find it useful for a number of occasions. In need of a Christmas Sweater for the office party? Searching for a festive fashion statement for a Christmas gathering? This is a versatile top that will get you noticed, is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face and is very comfortable to wear.

Die Hard The Movie

Die Hard The Movie

Directed by John McTiernan and written by Steven E de Souza and Jeb Stuart, this American action thriller is based on the 1979 novel "Nothing Lasts Forever" by Roderick Thorp. Essentially, the film is about a group of 13 men who break into the Japanese owned Nakatomi building during their Christmas Eve party. Masquerading as terrorists, the gang's intention is to steal the 640 million dollars in bearer bonds contained in the vault and escape the scene during a massive explosion that leaves the FBI assuming they have all been killed, along with the hostages.

John McClane

The one "fly in the ointment, monkey in the wrench" flaw in Hans Gruber's plan is the unanticipated arrival of an off-duty New York police officer, John McClane. From the moment John McClane goes into "stealth hero cop mode" during the hostage takeover, the movie takes the "action thriller" genre to a whole new level. Many movies since have attempted to copy, parody and immitate this iconic film. None come close. Entertaining as they are, that includes the Die Hard sequels.

What makes Die Hard, a die hard movie

As with all good movies, Die Hard tells a story that is compelling, features a main protagonist with whom we empathise, and has an ending that makes sense. As with all great movies, Die Hard also has supporting characters that provide interesting sub-plots. Each of these sub-plots hangs beautifully on the main story, adds interest and meaning to the overall plot and is neatly tied up by the end of the film. Add into this mix the compelling moments of drama, the expertly choreographed fight scenes and a humour that punctuates throughout, and Die Hard rises head and shoulders above it's rivals.

Die Hard Music – Beethoven

Die Hard Music

Listen on Apple Music

For those who appreciate the unseen gems in this movie, the music that masterfully conveys moments of tension and trepidation most definitely deserves a mention. Variations on Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" movement from his ninth symphony are played throughout the movie. This provides a brilliant backdrop to Hans Gruber's entrance, setting the sinister tone of his intentions. When the final lock on the vault is released and the huge doors open, a flourishing burst of Beethoven heralds a brief celebratory moment as the bad guys stand in awe at their success.

And finally…a quick reminder of when John McClane sent a Christmas message to Hans Gruber et al
