Most of the time we see Prince Eric he is wearing a white shirt with an open collar and long sleeves which are always rolled up. Although Eric is a prince, he is also an accomplished sailor. This is a most practical design shirt for coping with the variety of jobs a sailor would have to undertake onboard ship.

Prince Eric Style

Eric wears his shirt tucked into his trousers in a blouson effect, that is, not fitted but loose, comfortable and practical for freedom of movement. The sleeves are long but are usually rolled up which reflects how Eric takes a hands on approach to work. The chest front has a v-shaped opening. There are laces which can be used to draw the front together. Alternatively, you can leave them really loose, or remove them, for a very open look.

Pirates and Princes

This shirt is very comfortable to wear. The gothic, romantic design is often featured in a number of costumes, such as peasants, pirates, poets, musketeers, vampires and artists to name but a few. For that reason, it is a great shirt to have in your costume wardrobe as it will prove invaluable when putting together multiple costumes.

Made from 98% Polyester and 2% Viscose, this shirt has been designed for comfort. The fabric is tough and soft. This gothic shirt is suitable for all sorts of costumes from pirates to princes. It features long sleeves with flared cuffs, a lapel collar and the front has a v-neck shape which is laced up. Easy care, this shirt is washable in cold water.

Prince Eric likes to get his hands dirty and join in with the cut and thrust of every aspect of sailing, Therefore, it is appropriate that his trousers should be of solid construction, practical for working yet stylish enough to be worn by a Prince. Interestingly, Prince Eric has chosen Royal Blue, a color that certainly reflects his royal status.

These classic workwear trousers have been constructed to be hard wearing. Wrinkle and stain resistant, they are a combination of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The legs are slightly tapered and the front features a classic rise which is flattering and comfortable.

Practical and stylish, these trousers are designed as work pants but are also flattering enough for leisure wear. The front closure is a heavy-duty ratcheting brass zipper with a hook and eye closure at the top. There are pockets front and back and tunnel belt loops on the waist. Conveniently, these royal blue trousers are machine washable.

Prince Eric likes to wear a red sash around his middle. As well as looking pretty dapper, wearing this type of sash would have had practical reasons too. Although a royal, Prince Eric was an accomplished sailor. As such, he was adept at much of the tasks of the ordinary sailors. Such a sash could be used to hold small items a sailor might need at hand. When it came to rough, heavy tasks such as hauling ropes, a sailor could use the sash to protect himself from injury. It probably came in handy for mopping up rum rations too.

Prince Eric sash

This is an excellent sash for choosing to match with your Prince Eric Costume. Prince Eric wraps his sash around the waist with no trim hanging down. This is an option, or you could leave the remaining sash hanging down as in the picture above. The latter creates a rather romantic look, particularly reminiscent of pirate costumes where we see a loose section of sash hanging down, ready for use.

Wrapping the sash more than once around your body provides a neat way to carry items, just as the real sailors would have done. If you choose to add a sword, a telescope or some other prop to your Prince Eric costume, simply tuch them into your sash for a great look. It also leaves your hands free for lots of swashbuckling.

Because of this, the boots Prince Eric chooses to wear are very similar to the style associated with pirates. His chosen footwear are black high boots with a fold over flap, roomy in the leg and a modest heel.

Zips and Laces

The boots we have selected reflect the look and style that Prince Eric wore. As a convenience, these boots contain a zip closure. This is hidden beneath the fold over flap which contains laces run through eyelets. Thus, what appears to be an old fashioned boots has the modern convenience of zip closure.

These black cuffed boots are typical of those worn by pirates or seafaring gentleman of the renaissance period. The outer material is synthetic, the inner fabric is textile and the soles are rubber. The fold over cuff is decorated with laces fed through eyelets. However, these boots contain a zip fastening for ease of dressing. Being of royal birth, Prince Eric would have been trained in the art of swordsmanship. In The Little Mermaid II, return to the Sea, we see Eric wielding a cutlass which was a common navy weapon back in the day. The cutlass we are recommending as part of your Prince Eric Costume is the prop version of the finest sword forged under the sea, The Sword of Triton. Experts in The Little Mermaid verse will know that Ariel’s father is King Triton, son of Poseidon. King Triton was said to have forged the sword himself in the lost city of Atlantis.

Magical Properties

The sword of Triton is a mystical sword imbued with magical properties that enable the carrier to control ships and bring dead matter back to life. In Pirates of the Caribbean, on Stranger Tides, the sword makes an appearance in the possession of the infamous Blackbeard, the pirate feared by other pirates. The infamous Hector Barbossa kills Blackbeard and makes off with the sword of Triton and Blackbeard’s ship. Bearing in mind what a real couple of n’er do wells these are, we think King Triton would much rather his sword be in the hands of his son in law, Prince Eric.

This sword of Triton prop is forged from plastic and measures 30 inches in length. The blade is narrower at the cross guard and tapers out wider towards the end. The cutlass handle is painted to give the appearance that it is encrusted with jewels. When Ariel first sets eyes on Prince Eric, he is aboard his ship. A celebration for Prince Eric’s birthday is in full swing, including dancing, music and fireworks. The noise attracts Ariel’s attention. She swims over, climbs up level with the deck and peeps through the side to observe. It looks antique with a distressed leather cover and brass finishings. You can carry it, tuck it in your sash or use the carry loop to attach it to your costume. This beautiful nautical antique looking telescope has been skilfully fashioned from brass and leather. When closed the telescope measures a neat 2.17 x 2.17 x 7 inches. It has a cap at either end to protect the spyglass and a carry handle. When fully extended the telescope measures 18 inches. It is capable of 12 times magnification. This is a working telescope. The manufacturers advise the following in order to achieve a clear focus: ‘extend fully and then push back the eye pipe inside to focus the object’.
