What is a Marvel Zombie?

The basic premise of Marvel Zombies is that our favourite Marvel heros have been infected with the zombie virus and are running mayhem throughout the universe devouring humans and fellow super beings alike. These zombies are not fussy, whatever comes the way. Whether it is human, ape, fellow super power, silver surfer, good buy or bad guy matters not. These Marvel Zombies combine the goriness of the zombie genre with the awesomeness of the Marvel Universe, taking graphic comics to a whole new level.

Graphic Graphics

And we do mean graphic. This is not a tale of how to survive the zombie apocalypse, or how a super hero will always come to the rescue. This is gory, graphic, not for kids entertainment that will leave you as hungry for more as a Marvel Zombie on a spent universe. Of course, when you’re a super power and you have run out of humans to devour, they only way is up.

Another Dimension

The Marvel Zombies take the fight to another dimension, another universe, anywhere they want and nowhere is safe.

The first Marvel Zombie collection consisted of a five issue series entitled simply Marvel Zombies. The story line has proved immensely popular, and more Marvel Zombie series were to follow, which in turn were fleshed out, if you’ll pardon the expression, with prequels, spin-offs and parallel issues.

Marvel Chronology

It can get confusing.If you were to read Marvel Zombies in Chronological order of the story, the following list would be a suggested route. Anything before Marvel Zombies Volume 1, which is the first Marvel Zombies to have been written, is a prequel.

Marvel Zombies vs army of darkness issues #0,#1,#2, Marvel Zombies – dead days, Marvel Zombies vs army of darkness #3, #4, #5, Marvel Zombies Evil Evolution, Ultimate Fantastic Four #21 #22 #23, Marvel Zombies volume 1, Ultimate Fantastic Four #30 #31 #32, Black Panther #28 #29 #30, Marvel Zombies volume 2, Marvel Zombes the Return, Marvel Zombies volume 3, Marvel Zombies volume 4, Deadpool – Merc with a Mouth, Marvel Zombies volume 5, Marvel Zombies Supreme, Marvel Zombies Destroy.

We can see from these two lists that whilst certain editions are missing from the zomnibus edition, namely the prequel marvel zombies vs army of darkness issues, Deadpool, and Marvel Zombies Destroy. However, the zomnibus does include the prequel Marvel Apes.

Marvel Zombie Zomnibus Verdict

Marvel Zombies is gory and graphic in the true sense of the word. The story lines and artwork are aimed at adults and are not suitable comic book literature for children.

The Marvel Zombie Zomnibus edition is a richly colourful collection of the best Marvel Zombie issues. It contains sufficient of the prequel issues and diverse editions to gain a comprehensive perspective of the Marvel Zombie Verse.

The Marvel Zombie Zomnibus Edition is ideal for the committed Marvel Zombie fan, and can be more economical than purchasing individual editions. You will probably find some of the weaker stories a little tedious, such as Marvel Apes which is a fascinating addition but a non-essential read to appreciate Marvel Zombies.

That said, the best of Marvel Zombies is contained within this edition, wrapped up in some of the finest artwork and storytelling that graphic comic books have to offer.

However, if you are not certain you want to commit to such a large edition, or if you are looking for a gift for someone who might like Marvel Zombies, then other options may be preferable:
