Q never fails to supply Bond with fold-up aircrafts, submersible cars, weapons that masquerade as pens and a whole range of gadgets sure to get him out of a tight spot. M is always there to brief Bond on his mission at the beginning and supply a patsy for his indescretions in the closing scenes.

Along with his combat skills, marksmanship, cool head in a crisis and indisputable charm with the ladies, there are aspects of Bond’s character that are synonymous with 007, and remain a constant in all the films. Bond is always impecably dressed. He has a favourite car, favourite weapon and he always has his martinis prepared in the same way. A complicated fight scene in which our hero snatches victory from the jaws of defeat will always culminate in an appropriate one liner. Coming from anyone else it would most likely seem just tactless. It works because he is Bond and we would be dissapointed if it were missing.

Experts will know that throughout the Bond films, the Walther pistol has been a favourite of James Bond. Sean Connery carried a Walther PPK, which only gave way to the PP9 during the “Bondmanship” of Pierce Brosnan. Discerning Bond fans will no doubt have noticed that this is infact a Walther P99.
