🎶When it’s Christmas Time, and you wanna look good, who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!
At Christmas time the ugly sweaters are taken out for an airing and once more the challenge is on to find something special. Well, look no further because nothing says ugly Christmas Sweater like a ectoplasm dripping, ghost infested, Stay Puft, slimey, snowflake, Christmas tree decorated, knitted masterpiece. And that is what we have here. This Ghostbusters Christmas Sweater is packed with characters and reminders of the iconic Ghostbusters Movie and you are going to have such fun wearing this.
Fans of the Ghostbusters movie are going to be seriously jealous of this awesome piece of knitted mastery. You can expect to be surrounded by small clusters of wannabe ghostbusters trying to spot all their favorite characters. Several characters appear multiple times. The pièce de résistance has to be the large, Christmas version of the Ghostbusters logo on the front. It is beautifully done in eye catching detail and has been given a Christmas upgrade just for your sweater. Normally the ghost in the centre of the logo is behind a red circle indicating “No ghosts allowed”. For a festive twist, our shocked looking ghost is wrestling with a green Christmas wreath decorated with red baubles.
The Ghostbusters of Christmas Present
The sweater as a whole has been skillfully designed to emulate a Christmas Sweater with a fair isle pattern. Instead of the usual patterns and colors, we have ghosts, ghouls, hell hounds and the Stay Puft marshmallow man. If you didn’t realise what the detailed patterns were, it would still be a highly attractive sweater, such is the consistent and skillful design of the pattern. The Christmas colors of red and green are picked out beautifully, helping to affirm the Christmas theme.
Fans of the Ghostbusters mode of transport are going to be delighted to see the Ectomobile is featured. The original ECTO-1 made a dramatic impact in the movie and is as iconic as slimer or the Ghostbusters ghost symbol. In the movie, Ray Stantz (Dan Akroyd) buys a beautiful 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance in need of a lot of loving care. Cue the montage and the ambulance is transformed into a beautiful 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Ectomobile. If you are fan of the car and want to take a moment to reminisce how great that vehicle was, here is a fun fact you might like to ponder. The man responsble for the design and build of ECTO-1, Stephen Dane, also designed the Proton Pack, Particle Thrower, Trap, Giga meter, Slime Scooper and Slime Blower—all within two weeks of the start of shooting.
The Stay Puft marshmallow man has his own section within the pattern on the body and again on each sleeve. He might not look very threatening on the pack of marshmallows in Dana Barrett’s kitchen but, set against the backdrop of New York, we’re reminded just how mean and massive he grew to become the Sumerian deity Gozer.
The hell hounds from the movie who play the gatekeeper and keymaster of Gozo are also featured. In the movie, the gate keeper, Zuul takes over Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and her keymaster, Vinz Clortho takes over Louis Tully (Rick Moranis). Eventually both Dana and Louis are struck by lightning and transform into their demonic state of hell hound. Colored in red, the hell hounds make a great addition to the pattern, dotted all over.
Slimer makes numerous appearances all over the sweater in what looks like slime mode. This is held up by the copius ammounts of slime dripping from the bottom line of the pattern around sleeves and the main body. In the movie, the character of Slimer is never actually referred to by any name. Steve Johnson, FX Master, created the image of Slimer based on headshots of John Belushi, of Blues Brothers fame. Dan Akroyd, Belushi’s blues brother, has often referred to Slimer in interviews as “The Ghost of John Belushi”.
Check out the close up below and you can see impressive detail of the images. Furthermore, the knitted pattern shows through giving a great textured look to the theme. This is a quality piece of knitting made from premium yarn that forms a consistent, attractive, beautifully crafted sweater.

A black backdrop features snowflakes, Christmas Trees and a ziggy zaggy Christmas themed pattern for a festive touch.
Embedded in the detailed patterns you will find a number of characters from the Ghostbusters movie. Slimer, the Stay Puft marshmallow man and hell hounds all feature in the pattern. More of the Ghostbusters ghost logo can be seen on the sleeves along with the Ectomobile, more ghosts and more snowflakes. The neck, sleeves and end of the body are all trimmed in a festive red. A pattern of green slime hangs decoratively here and there creatingly an attractive pattern.
