AMC Walking Dead Seasons 1- 5 Synopsis

After the world is ravaged by a zombie apocalypse, a group of survivors find themselves travelling in search of a safe and secure home, led by police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). As they struggle to fend off the zombie hordes, they soon find themselves being threatened by other survivor groups who are prepared to do whatever it takes to survive.

Based on one of the most successful and popular comic books of all time, written by Robert Kirkman, AMC Walking Dead seasons 1-5 vividly captures the tension, drama and devastation following a zombie apocalypse.

Walking Dead Blood and Gore

The zombies and the violence an apocalypse brings are initially a main feature of the series. However, the undead really provide a horror backdrop for the true story that is emerging. It attempts to suggest what happens when peoples lives are devastated by life changing events.

The Challenge of the Walking Dead

The Walking Dead challenges how ordinary everyday life is put on hold while people unite to fight the common enemy. Furthermore it explores how people learn to cope with loss and permanent danger. Ultimately, it explores how these experiences change them, and what they become in order to survive. This is an excellent series, the energy is palpable and its happening now. Don’t miss it!

Violence Rating

Violence is synonymous with the walking dead. There are scenes of humans being attacked, flesh torn, people dying. Zombies are killed in numerous imaginative ways including being driven over, decapitation, bludgeoning and shooting.

The killings are bloody and gory with sound effects. Around Season 4, although there are some very violent episodes, the killing of zombies makes way for humans killing humans; equally violent but perhaps more disturbing.

Defensive Violence

The zombie killings are always carried out as a defence, the human against human violence is, as always, unnecessary. In season 5 the violence escalates to a new level. It is not any more bloody or gory, it is more thought provoking for the viewer.

Verdict:

AMC Walking Dead is the best horror drama on TV. The writing is excellent, the stories and plot lines are compelling, the acting is award winning, the special effects are breathtaking. A pedantic person might suggest it is a very violent show, but as we are watching a drama series in the horror genre, we’d have to say that the violence is approached in a responsible way to an appropriate level for an adult audience; and the zombie slaying scenes are rather compelling too!

Walking Dead Binge Watch

If you are late discovering this series, what better way to catch up than to “binge watch” on the whole five series, so you are ready for season 6? The AMC Walking Dead box set of seasons 1 to 5 has proven incredibly popular, with 96% of happy customers giving it a top 5 star rating. We would have to agree, so we’re giving AMC Walking Dead seasons 1-5 our top rating of 5 zombies!
