Dead Island Description

The story unfolds on the fictional island of Banoi, positioned neatly off the coast of Papua New Guinea and in easy reach of north Australia. The capital city Moresby was founded in 1895 by Australian visitors, however a large part of the island is undiscovered territory, assumed to be wild and primitive.

Perfect Holiday Gettaway

The weather is balmy, the white sandy beaches are unspoit and the vegetation is tropical. A mountainous backdrop completes this perfect holiday gettaway described by the tour guides as the pearl in the necklace of the Oceania Archipelago.

Visitors safely assume they will be soaking in the rich cultural heritage of the locals, rock climbing, kayaking and all round huntin’ and shootin’ and fishin’. That is, in between a spot of lunch and a lazy sunbath on the beach.

Mysterious Epidemic

But all is not as idyllic as it seems. Suddenly our happy holiday makers are faced with a mysterious epidemic that angrily sweeps through the island.

As our player is drawn into the game they are faced with the brutal reality of a zombie apocalypse, and the only activity left on the agenda: survive!

Zombie Immunity?

But curiously, four of the survivors find they are immune to the zombie infection. Cut off from the rest of the world, can they protect the remaining survivors from the horrors of the island, discover what’s really going on and find a way to escape before their own fatal ends?

How To Survive

The agenda is survive, by any means necessary. Dead Island focuses on serious, first-person action gameplay with a close-quarter, immersive melee focus.

Up to 4 Player Co-op

With up to 4 player co-operative multiplayer, Dead Island permits players to drop in and out of each other’s games at any time with no loss of progress as well as the ability to continue on alone or with others.

Weapons

There are a multitude of weapons available including wooden bats, axes, and heavy rifles. Dead Island has a weapon customization system which enables the player to craft the ultimate weapon.

Fresh horror for each player

Character development using RPG-like elements including an XP/leveling system and un-lockable skill trees enables each player to create and role play a unique protagonist.

Violence Rating

This game is aimed at the mature player, so expect violence. However, the worst of the violence can be turned off, making the game a lot more tame and appropriate for those who dislike the blood and gore but want the thrill of the chase.

Dead Island Review

Banoi is brimming with things to do and objectives to tackle. Solving the mission is challenging and there is a lot to learn along the way. The violence is bad in terms of blood, but much of this can be switched off making it more suitable for those skilled enough to enjoy a thoroughly well thought out game but not wanting too much blood and gore.

The island tribesmen add another dimension with their rich and interesting history. The experience is immersive and the zombies seen through the eyes of first person camera view are deliciously scary.
Great, exciting, game.
