iZombie Season 2 Synopsis
iZombie has introduced a fresh approach to the zombie genre, showing us that just because someone has joined the undead, doesn’t mean they don’t have a life! Liv Moore, recently of the undead is an articulate intelligent woman who works in the coroner’s office where she ingests brains and helps solve crimes.
Killer of the Week
iZombie Season 2 continues with the ‘killer of the week’ story line established in izombie Season 1, enabling new viewers to jump right in, but also has threads of continuing stories throughout to make purpose of Liv’s predicament and engagingly keep our enthusiasm for what comes next.
Violence Rating
The violence in izombie Season 2 is kept to a minimum and underpinned with humour. For example, Liv is seen eating brains, but these are not from people Liv has killed and usually accompanied by suggestions for healthy recipe ideas that include brains.
Full on Zombie
The only time the violence can seem real is when Liv goes “full on zombie”. These moments tend to be justified by Liv needing her “special powers” to avert danger to herself or other humans and quickly subsides.
Verdict:
The humour that punctuates each Episode helps carry us through the inevitable dark moments that accompany a drama about zombies and subtly bridges the world of the undead with that of the human survivors. iZombie Season 2 has carried some wonderfully colourful characters over from iZombie Season 1 but added enough plot twists and events to keep us guessing who is a zombie and who is the good guy.
iZombie Season 2 is every bit as compelling as Season 1, but with more drama, more humour, more exploration of the characters and some interesting plot developments which all together heighten our expectations for the next Episode to come and never disappoint.
iZombie Season 1 was always going to be a tough act to follow, but somehow iZombie Season 2 is even better. That has to be worth four and a half zombies!
