Dead Snow 2 Red vs Dead

Summary

The lone survivor of Dead Snow‘s Zombie attack wakes in the hospital with his severed arm replaced with the arm of his Nazi nemesis, sparking a rampage of revenge by raising an undead army of his own.

Directed by renowned Norwegian producer, screenwriter and director Tommy Wirkola, Dead Snow 2 Red vs Dead is the 2014 sequel to the original Dead Snow created in 2009. An hillarious zombie horror/comedy film, it continues the saga of the most chilling villains in cinematic existence; Nazi zombies!

In Dead Snow 2 Red vs Dead, Vegar Hoel reprises his role of Martin from the first Dead Snow Movie, where he and his companions find themselves up against a bunch of Nazi Zombies led by the evil Herzog (Ørjan Gamst).

Martin and his evil arm

Following a near fatal car crash, Martin wakes in the hospital to find that doctors have miraculously re-attached his arm. The trouble is, it isn’t his arm they have attached but that of the evil Herzog, leader of the Nazi Zombie army. Martin does not take the news of his zombie appendage well and after a few misunderstandings between the medical staff and his evil arm, Martin escapes from hospital and the authorities.

Nazi Gold

To make matters worse Martin is still in possession of a single gold Nazi coin, which is enough incentive for Herzog and his Zombie Army to come after him. If that weren’t bad enough, he finds out that Herzog was originally tasked by Hitler to destroy an entire Norwegian village because of their anti Nazi activities. Realising that Herzog and his Nazi Army intend to complete this mission and slaughter everyone in the village, Martin realises he is going to need help in order to stop them.

The Zombie Squad

Our would-be hero teams up with a group of professional American zombie hunters called “The Zombie Squad”. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire and the only logical way to fight a zombie army is to get one of your own. It’s a bodacious plan. Much slaying, running, screaming and hilarious comedy unfolds along the way.

Violence Rating

The first 30 minutes of the film can be considered scary, after that the horror content consists of exaggerated bloody, graphic scenes that are designed for comedic effect. Although comical, it is not a film that is suitable for children. The IMDb parental Guide gives a comprehensive account of any controversial content.

Dead Snow 2 Red vs Dead Verdict:

You do not need to have seen Dead Snow in order to follow the premise and the story in Dead Snow 2 Red vs Dead, but you are missing out on so much if you do not.

Dead Snow Red vs Dead is a worthy sequel to the first and hillarious Dead Snow. Whereas the original movie was an all out zombie horror story, Red vs Dead is more of a comedic action movie with director Tommy Wirkola inventing new and wonderful ways to make us despise the zombie nazi villains.

It is a great film for any one who enjoys zombie comedies such as Shaun of the Dead. The story line is engaging, the Nazi Zombies are menacing and scary and the bloody carnage is done in such an exaggerated way it comes across as hillarious.

If you enjoyed Dead Snow you are going to love Dead Snow 2 Red or Dead.
