The Best 6 Zombie Music Videos
Fortunately, all of the following Zombie music videos demonstrate that, whether you are living, dead, or living undead, all creatures great and flesh-craving can enjoy a good tune! So why not sit back, relax and enjoy some of the best zombie music videos that the Internet has to offer.
Zombie Party ~ Speed
The theme of this video is “let’s party like zombies”. It’s comforting to know that after the zombie apocalypse we will still have music and dancing. If post apocalypse music is as brilliant as this video from SPEED, a South Korean group, maybe things won’t be so bad after all!
This is a really catchy tune that stays with you long after the video has ended. Speed have put together a great video which showcases their talent for singing and dancing and embraces the zombie genre. The choreography is inspired from typical zombie moves worked into a syncrhonised routine you are going to want to learn. Come the apocalypse, or perhaps Halloween, this music is sure to get all the ghouls, vampires, zombies and things that go bump in the night, on their feet and partying!
“I Hear You Calling” ~ Gob
Forget shotguns, crossbows and baseball bats, the music video for “I Hear You Calling” by Gob demonstrates that all you need to fend off a horde of zombies is a couple of friends and a football! The music video for this millennium rock hit takes place on a football pitch.
As soon as the band arrive at the pitch they are aware that something is not quite right. Before long they are proved right as zombies begin to clamber and crawl out of the ground. Does this deter the band? No! They simply pick up a football and organise a quick kick-around with the football league of the living undead. Throw a few zombie cheerleaders into the mix and you are presented with both a smash hit and an instructional video on how to defeat a horde of zombies when you don’t have easy access to conventional weapons.
Mother ~ Blondie
The music video for the Blondie song “Mother” takes place within a bar of the same name. As Debbie Harry and the band take to the stage and the song begins it becomes clear that even the living undead are drawn towards this upbeat track. Before long these ravenous zombies start to make their way from their basement headquarters towards centre stage; munching on any unsuspecting partygoers who happen to cross their paths as they do so.
Before long everyone in the entire bar has been transformed into members of the living undead. Consequently, not only is “Mother” a great dance track but its music video also teaches two valuable lessons; number one being that you should always check that the basement is zombie-free before rocking out, and number two; that no-one is safe from the zombie apocalypse, not even Blondie.
Re: Your Brains ~ Jonathan Coulton
Written and performed by American singer-songwriter Jonathan Coulton, “Re: Your Brains” illustrates that, despite the fact that they are brain-craving monsters, zombies can still be reasonable. Set inside an office building, this music video introduces us to Tom, your run-of-the-mill office worker who has barricaded himself inside a conference room in an effort to fend off hungry zombies who want to eat him.
However, rather than stampede this barricade the zombies opt to send Tom an eloquent letter wherein they try to reach a compromise. After all, as the zombies themselves put it; “We’re not unreasonable, I mean no-one’s gonna eat your eyes”. With a multitude of quick-witted lyrics and clips as well as a catchy chorus to which both the living and the living undead can sing along, this hilarious folk rock zombie song is a must-see video for any fan of zombie-related musical parodies.
Dancing with Myself ~ Billy Idol
Billy Idol’s incredibly catchy “Dancing with Myself” shows a group of zombies scale a city building to reach the peroxide punk rock star only to be electrocuted and fall back down to the earth from which they rose. However, this unexpected fall does not appear to have dampened their spirits and the horde of zombies simply proceed to scale the building once more in order to reach Billy Idol; thus illustrating that even the living undead can appreciate good music!
Thriller ~ Michael Jackson
Yep you guessed it, no zombie music video countdown would be worth mentioning if it didn’t contain the iconic “Thriller” music video. This epic 13 minute pop music video was written collaboratively by John Landis and Michael Jackson in 1983 and made history as MTV’s first ever world premiere video.
Since its release “Thriller” has not wavered in its immense popularity and has become internationally renowned as the most successful zombie music video of all time. What’s more, “Thriller” was also recognised as the most successful music video of all time by the Guinness World Records organisation in 2006 and has sold over 9 million copies to date; many of which continue to take pride of place at Halloween parties across the globe.
All of these accolades are truly warranted when you watch this musical masterpiece. Produced by Quincy Jones and featuring the distinctive dulcet tones of the legendary horror film actor Vincent Price, “Thriller” contains all of the elements that combine to create a perfect zombie music video.
This is a great dance track sung by the King of Pop, a chilling plotline that includes a spooky graveyard scene with zombies rising from the earth, stunning make-up, zombie prosthetics and costumes as well as an elaborate living undead dance sequence all of which is concluded brilliantly with a chilling ending that is paired with the brilliant echoing laugh of Vincent Price.
